Irish Fair of Minnesota, 7-9 August, 2009

Mark your calendar for one of the best dance weekends of the year! The Irish Fair, held at Harriet Island in St. Paul, Minnesota, features dancing and lessons all weekend long in a tent devoted entirely to Irish social dance. Tuesday Nights NEW!

Irish Social Dancing for Adults - at The Celtic Junction, 836 N. Prior Ave., St. Paul. Come dance in the newest, swankiest studio in town, with natural light and genuine sprung wood floors! Group and couples dancing is led by our experienced Loma mor Irish Dance Club teachers. Some time is spent during each class reviewing the dances on the program for the next upcoming Quarterly Hooley so you're ready to dance when the time comes. Class runs year-round and beginners are welcome at any class. $8 per person.

Wednesday Nights

Dubliner Irish Pub - 2162 University Avenue in Saint Paul. Learn Irish dancing in a genuine Irish Pub with a wooden floor that has known a whole lot of dancing feet. Steps and dances are taught by Súin Lowary. Basic beginning steps are taught from 7 to 8 PM, followed by advanced lessons and dancing until 9:30 PM. Year-round and open to all ages. Free.

Conway Recreation Center - 2090 Conway Street in Saint Paul. This class is held in a park and recreation gym, and is taught by a trio of fine dancers/instructors, Ginny, Becky, and Dan, who will provide plenty of special attention for your particular level of experience. The class runs from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Year-round and open to all ages. Free.

Thursday Nights NEW!

The Ivy Building - 2637 - 27th Avenue South in Minneapolis, right along the Midtown Greenway. Set dances are taught and led by Tim McAndrew, usually with live music. Dancing from 7-10pm, year-round. $7 per person.

Friday Nights
THIS CLASS IS SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY. Dance-n-Fitness, 311 Division Street in Northfield on Fridays from September to November and from March to May , $9 per session; set dancing and two-hand dances

First Saturday Ceili, The Dubliner Pub, 2-5pm - On the first Saturday of every month at the Dubliner Pub, at the corner of University and Vandalia, St. Paul. Dances called by Paul McCluskey. $free (but tip the musicians!)

Third Saturday Ceili, Odd Fellows' Hall, 7:30pm - On the third Saturday of every month at Odd Fellows' Hall, at the corner of Raymond and Hampden, St. Paul. Dances (ceili) called by Linda Doran. $3

Loma mor Quarterly Hooley - NEW EVENT

This dance and social will be held at The Celtic Junction. Join us at 7:30 pm for a pot-luck with live music. Dancing begins at 8 pm, as well as a session in a separate space for non-dancers. Beginner dance lessons run 7:30 - 8pm.
