Saturday, February 6, 2010
Annual Imbolc Celebration and Céilí
8:30 to 10 PM, $5 to dance
All dances taught and called by Paul McCluskey.
If you like dancing with a really big crowd, this one's for you!
Powderhorn Park and Recreation Center
3400 15th Avenue South in Minneapolis
This is part of a larger celebration starting at 6 PM
with a vegetarian dinner and a variety of other activities,
called the Feile Brid, organized by the Keepers of the Flame collective.
The full event costs $15 and needs to be prepaid.

For dancing only, you may pay at the door.

Community Education céilí classes begin
February 13 for four Saturdays from 10 AM to Noon
at Sandburg Middle School in Golden Valley (Robbinsdale School District.)

The Irish Music and Dance Association will be holding
the annual Day of Irish Dance (March 14) and
Saint Patrick's Day Celebration (March 17)
at the Landmark Center in Saint Paul.
And there will be céilí and set dancing during the day on March 14.

Volunteers are needed to staff both events.
Volunteers receive free admission to all event on the day of volunteering,
plus an IMDA T-shirt, free snacks and refreshments during the two hour shift,
and an invitation to the volunteer appreciation party in late March or early April.

Wednesday Nights

Dubliner Irish Pub - 2162 University Avenue in Saint Paul. Learn Irish céilí dancing in a genuine Irish Pub with a wooden floor that has known a whole lot of dancing feet. Steps and dances are taught by Súin Lowary. Basic beginning steps are taught from 7 to 8 PM, followed by advanced lessons and dancing until 9:30 PM. Year-round and open to all ages. Free.

Conway Recreation Center - 2090 Conway Street in Saint Paul. This class is held in a park and recreation gym, and is taught by a trio of fine dancers/instructors, Ginny, Becky, and Dan, who will provide plenty of special attention for your particular level of experience. The class runs from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Year-round and open to all ages. Free.

Midtown Global Market - We're Back! (beginning February 10) 920 East Lake Street in Minneapolis. Look for the big green neon letters that say MIDTOWN. Come early to to learn the basic steps, and learn the reels and jigs with experienced dancers plus newcomers who discover us while out for dinner or shopping. Steps and dances are taught by Paul McCluskey. The class starts at 6:30 PM. Free.

Thursday Nights

The Ivy Building for the Arts - 2637 - 27th Avenue South in Minneapolis, right along the Midtown Greenway. Set dances are taught and led by Tim McAndrew, with the Twin Cities Céilí Band providing the music. Dancing from 7-10pm, year-round. $7 per person. Come for the full lesson at 6 PM: $15 lesson and dancing.

First Saturday Céilí, The Dubliner Pub, 2 to 5 pm - On the first Saturday of every month at the Dubliner Pub, at the corner of University and Vandalia in Saint Paul. Dances called by Paul McCluskey. $3 suggested donation. Map
Second Saturday Céilí, Merlins Rest Pub, 3 to 5 pm - On the second Saturday of every month at Merlins Rest Pub, at the corner of East Lake Street and 36th Avenue in Minneapolis. Dances called by Paul McCluskey. $3 suggested donation. Map
Third Saturday Céilí, Odd Fellows Hall, 7:30 to 10 pm - On the third Saturday of every month at Odd Fellows Hall, at the corner of Raymond and Hampden in Saint Paul. Dances (céilí) called by Linda Doran. $3 suggested donation. Map
Lóma mór Quarterly Hooley - NEW EVENT
This dance and social will be held at The Celtic Junction. Join us at 7:30 pm for a pot-luck with live music.  Dancing begins at 8 pm, as well as a session in a separate space for non-dancers. Beginner dance lessons run 7:30 - 8pm. Map
